NRL's Clint Gutherson Announces Engagement to Jesse Arena

Rugby league star Clint Gutherson has shared some wonderful personal news, announcing his engagement to his long-term partner, Jesse Arena.

A Sun-Soaked Announcement

The St George Illawarra Dragons captain took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal the exciting development, posting a beautiful beach photograph that captured a perfect family moment. In the sun-drenched image, the 31-year-old athlete stands barefoot on the sand, smiling proudly as he holds the couple's young child on his hip.

Gutherson, wearing black boardshorts and showcasing his tattooed legs, posed against a backdrop of rolling waves and a bright blue sky. Their little girl, Romy, looked adorable in a bright blue swimsuit, leaning playfully against her father. However, the true focus of the picture was Jesse Arena's hand, which stretched into the frame to proudly display a sparkling diamond engagement ring, her manicured fingers catching the sunlight.

Flood of Congratulations

The footballer captioned the heartfelt post simply with 'Hell yeah to life,' alongside the hashtag #LGalways. The announcement was swiftly met with an outpouring of love and congratulations from friends, fans, and fellow NRL personalities.

Parramatta Eels player Brad Takairangi commented, 'Can't wait to do the haka at ur wedding,' while other messages included 'How good my brother' and 'Congrats guys big love.' The couple, who have been together for over a decade and share a child, are widely regarded as one of the sport's most solid partnerships.

A Year of Major Changes

This happy personal news follows a year of significant professional and lifestyle changes for the family. Earlier in the year, Gutherson and Arena made headlines when they relocated from Sydney's Northern Beaches to Wollongong following his high-profile move to the Dragons.

Speaking after signing a three-year deal with St George Illawarra last November, Gutherson explained his readiness for a fresh start. 'I'm going to move the family down, enjoy a change of scenery,' he stated at the time, adding that he felt 'really excited and honoured' to join the club.

He emphasised that the move would allow him to fully immerse himself in the club's culture, giving him 'a chance to really buy into what they're doing and be close to training and all the boys.' As part of this transition, the couple's five-bedroom Collaroy Plateau property was listed for lease at $3500 per week before being taken off the market in mid-January.
