Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has backed Erling Haaland to inspire the club to Premier League glory this season. The Norwegian striker was sent home early from international duty due to a congested fixture list, but Lescott believes he will be refreshed for Saturday's clash with Everton.
Haaland has scored nine goals in seven Premier League appearances this campaign, along with three in the Champions League. He also netted a hat-trick for Norway in a 5-0 win over Israel. Lescott praised his finishing ability, saying: 'There's not a finish that he hasn't got.'
City currently sit three points behind leaders Arsenal after seven games. Haaland was named Premier League Player of the Month for September and has maintained his scoring form into October. Manager Pep Guardiola compared him to legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, stating: 'In terms of goals, he's incredible.'
Haaland himself acknowledged the importance of September's unbeaten run and stressed the need to maintain performance levels through a tough schedule. City host Everton on Saturday, with the visitors missing Jack Grealish, who is on loan from the Manchester club.
