Heartstopper star Kit Connor is reportedly set to join the Marvel universe as Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men reboot. The 22-year-old actor, known for playing Nick Nelson in the Netflix teen drama, is believed to have been cast as Scott Summers, the mutant leader known for his optic blasts.
Marvel casting rumors
Director Jake Schreier and Marvel president Kevin Feige reportedly met with several candidates before deciding on Connor. The character Cyclops has previously been portrayed by James Marsden in the 2000s X-Men films and Tye Sheridan in the 2010s installments. Marsden is also confirmed to reprise the role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film, set for release at the end of the year.
If the rumors are true, Connor will work alongside Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink, who has been confirmed as telepathic mutant Jean Grey. Sink made her debut as Grey in the recently released Spider-Man film Brand New Day, with her character kept under wraps until the movie's release.
Sink comments on casting
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Sink said she knew little about who was joining the cast. "So, I'm finding out through Jake [Schreier]. There's also so many online rumors, but it's coming together. I think the timing of it is so exciting, and the way they planned it out is really clever just with introducing one of the mutants, a very important mutant through Spider-Man. I think a great cast is coming together, and I think people are going to be really excited about it when it's all announced."
When asked about Connor auditioning for Cyclops, she said: "Did he? There's always the rumors, and I just never know what's official."
Another confirmed cast member is Samara Weaving, known for Ready Or Not, who will play telepath Emma Frost.
