Racing expert Newsboy has pinpointed his standout selections for Thursday's trio of British race meetings, with his strongest fancy running at Chelmsford City on the all-weather.
Chelmsford Nap Poised for Breakthrough Victory
The spotlight falls on the Cosy Dining In The Fairwood Handicap at 7.30pm, where Speed Of Maajid receives the coveted nap selection. Trained by Robert Cowell, the four-year-old has been knocking on the door, finishing in the places on his last four all-weather outings.
Despite being winless in six attempts on artificial surfaces, his recent form is compelling. After a close fourth over this course and distance in November, he has since secured three runner-up spots at Wolverhampton (twice) and Southwell. Last time out, under jockey Marco Ghiani, he was beaten just one length by Emperor's Son at Wolverhampton.
Racing from an unchanged mark of 67, and with a strong pace expected to suit his closing style, Newsboy believes Thursday night could be the time for Speed Of Maajid to finally shed his maiden tag on the sand.
Isla Bella Completes the Daily Double
Earlier on the Chelmsford card, Newsboy's next best bet runs in the 6.00pm Curry And Racing Next Thursday Classified Stakes. Isla Bella is the selection, with the tipster suggesting a step back up to six furlongs will be in her favour.
Her last run saw her denied by just two necks over five furlongs at Wolverhampton in late December. The return to the longer trip is seen as a key factor, making her the second leg of Newsboy's suggested daily double alongside Speed Of Maajid.
