Manchester United icon Gary Neville hasn't held back in his scathing assessment of the Red Devils' turbulent Premier League season, labelling their performances as 'nothing short of shambolic'.
The former England defender, who made over 600 appearances for United, expressed his dismay at the club's dramatic decline since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.
'Embarrassing' Displays at Old Trafford
Neville didn't mince words when describing United's recent displays: 'What we're seeing now is embarrassing for a club of this stature. The players look lost, the tactics are confused, and there's no clear identity.'
The Sky Sports pundit highlighted particular concerns about the team's defensive frailties and lack of leadership on the pitch, problems that have plagued United throughout the campaign.
Ten Hag Under Fire
While Neville stopped short of calling for manager Erik ten Hag's immediate dismissal, he questioned whether the Dutchman has the capability to turn things around: 'There are serious questions about whether this coaching staff can fix these fundamental issues. The recruitment has been poor, and the team looks no closer to challenging for titles.'
United currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, their worst position at this stage of the season in over 30 years.
Radical Changes Needed
Neville called for sweeping changes at boardroom level, suggesting the club's ownership structure needs complete overhaul: 'This isn't just about the manager or players. The problems start at the top. Until the football operations are run by proper football people, we'll keep seeing these cycles of failure.'
The former right-back's comments come after United's humiliating 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, a result that left many fans questioning the team's direction.

With protests against the Glazer ownership continuing, Neville warned that the club risks alienating its global fanbase: 'The supporters deserve better than this. United's commercial success can't mask the footballing decline forever.'
