Incident at Piccadilly Circus

A lone Argentina fan was rescued by Metropolitan Police officers from a crowd of England supporters at Piccadilly Circus on Wednesday night, following England's World Cup semi-final defeat. The fan, wearing an Argentina shirt, was surrounded by England fans on Regent Street St James's, prompting police intervention.

Police Intervention

Footage shared on social media shows officers bundling the man into a police van as onlookers jeered. Police cleared a path for the van to drive away. The Metropolitan Police often separate football fans from different teams as a precaution, and no further incident was reported. There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by the fan or those pictured.
