Frank McAvennie has questioned Celtic's decision to allow Auston Trusty extended leave following the death of his father, describing the move as 'woke'.
Trusty's time off
The defender lost his dad last month and was given time off to grieve with his family. Trusty returned to Hoops training in the lead-up to last weekend's 2-0 loss to Falkirk but was then allowed to return to his native US to attend his father's funeral.
McAvennie's comments
Speaking on his Let Me Be Frank podcast, McAvennie said: "I've got every respect for that, but how long do you want off? Martin (O'Neill) says he's away to celebrate the life of his dad. Celebrate the life? You've got football. You're getting paid and we're in trouble. How long is it going to be?"
Host Simon Houston quickly disregarded the claim but McAvennie continued, stating: "It's the woke brigade now isn't it. It's nonsense. My dad was the best man, the only man I looked up to when he died, but you've gotta get on with it."
