By contrast, Newcastle suffered their fourth consecutive defeat to City this season, having now been eliminated by the Manchester club in both domestic cup competitions. The Magpies will need to regroup quickly as they prepare to host Barcelona in European competition.
Comprehensive Performance Despite Squad Changes
City's performance in front of 51,109 spectators was as comprehensive as the scoreline suggests. Despite the numerous changes, they controlled large periods of the game and created the better chances throughout.
