Maresca, Foden Preview City's Leipzig Champions League Clash

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca and midfielder Phil Foden are set to speak to the media ahead of the club's Champions League clash with RB Leipzig in Germany on Wednesday night.

The press conference, due to start at 6pm, comes as City look to bounce back from successive Premier League defeats to Aston Villa and Brighton, although they did beat Brighton on penalties in the Carabao Cup last midweek. In Europe, City's most recent game was a comfortable victory over AEK Athens, and they begin the match week in 10th place in the League Phase table with six points from three games.

Team News and Training Squad

City trained with a near fully-fit squad on Tuesday before flying to Germany, with a 23-man group taking part. Antoine Semenyo is the only senior absentee, out until December with a knee injury. Ryan McAidoo and Kaden Braithwaite were not among the training squad, but Floyd Samba was present at the CFA.

Cherki's Role Under Maresca

Rayan Cherki's positioning remains a topic of discussion, following previous comments from Pep Guardiola, who brought him to City. Guardiola said in December: "There are moments I shout at him and there are moments I want to kiss him, so I have that ambivalent feeling with him. I want to allow him to express his incredible talent. We have to play better from the back so he can get more balls from that position."

Maresca has faced a similar challenge in balancing Cherki's creative freedom with the team's needs. A win against Leipzig would move City into the top eight of the League Phase table, securing direct qualification to the last-16, while a defeat would leave them with work to do to reach that position.
