Jill Scott: 'I Still Have a Lot to Give' After Loan Move to Everton

England midfielder Jill Scott has said she 'still has a lot to give' after joining Everton on a short-term loan from Manchester City. The 33-year-old, who turns 34 next week, extended her contract with City in June 2020 but has only started twice in all competitions this season.

Scott was set to be named in Everton's squad for Sunday's game at Tottenham, but the match was postponed due to weather. Speaking to BBC Sport, she said: 'Mentally, the fresh challenge was what I needed. Everybody wants to have minutes on the pitch. It's why we turn up to training.'

The move is partly aimed at boosting her chances of selection for Team GB at this summer's Olympic Games in Tokyo and next year's European Championship in England. Scott, who has 149 England caps, said: 'Playing for England is always something I want to do and I know I have to be performing to do that. Being at Everton will give me the best possible opportunity.'

Scott previously spent seven years at Everton before joining City in 2013. She described returning as 'a bit crazy' but 'very special', noting how much the club has changed. 'One of the biggest changes is that I'm here at 10am and not 10pm - that shows how much the women's game has come on,' she said.

She could make her first start for Everton against Manchester City's local rivals Manchester United on Sunday. Scott joked that Scotland international Claire Emslie has taken on the responsibility of looking after her, a role previously held by England captain Steph Houghton.
