Liverpool have recalled defender Owen Beck from his season-long loan at Dundee FC, cutting short his spell in Scotland. The 21-year-old left-back, a nephew of club legend Ian Rush, had been a regular starter for the Scottish Premiership side, featuring in all but one of their league fixtures this term.
The decision comes as Liverpool assess their options following injuries to first-choice left-backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas. The club will now decide whether to integrate Beck into the first team as cover or arrange another loan move for the Academy graduate.
This is the third time Beck has seen a temporary move cut short by Liverpool. His previous loan at Portuguese club Famalicao ended after just one month in 2022, and a stint at Bolton Wanderers was terminated by mutual agreement in January 2023 due to a lack of playing time.
Unlike those earlier spells, Beck's loan at Dundee was considered a success. His strong performances earned him his first call-up to the Welsh senior national team in October. Dundee expressed their gratitude in a statement, saying: "Owen will be greatly missed by everyone at Dundee FC as he has been outstanding both on and off the field."
Beck's recall follows a similar move for Fabio Carvalho, whose loan at RB Leipzig was also ended early after failing to establish himself in Germany. Liverpool now have added defensive depth as they navigate the injury crisis.
