Liverpool host Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday, with the match marking City's first appearance since being handed a guilty verdict in response to all 115 of their financial breaches. The club continues to plead its innocence.
Liverpool's inconsistent start
Liverpool are looking to compound their opponents' misery at Anfield, but they are also aiming to steady their own ship after an inconsistent start to the Andoni Iraola era. The Reds have taken nine points from their first five matches and remain unbeaten in the league, though there has not yet been a particularly convincing performance from the Merseysiders.
City's perfect record and injury concerns
City are the only side with a 100 per cent record, with Enzo Maresca enjoying a perfect start to his reign at the Etihad Stadium after taking over from Pep Guardiola in the summer. City were dealt an injury concern over the international break as Erling Haaland was spotted limping on Norway duty, so it remains to be seen whether he will feature at Anfield.
Liverpool will be without Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak, both of whom suffered ankle and thigh injuries respectively.
