Exeter City's League One match against Burton Albion, scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed due to a fire at St James Park. The blaze, which occurred last Wednesday, caused significant damage to the stadium's control room and electrical systems.
The fire disrupted electricity supply to the Adam Stansfield Stand and knocked out the public address system, fire alarms, first aid facilities, and internal computer networks. Despite efforts by club staff, volunteers, and local businesses, repairs could not be completed in time for the fixture.
The Safety Advisory Group advised the postponement, and Exeter City confirmed the decision in a statement. The club thanked supporters for their backing and said a new date for the match would be announced in due course.
Exeter City have launched a crowdfunding campaign to help cover repair costs before insurance claims are processed. The Grecians currently sit 20th in League One, two points above the relegation zone.
Their next fixture is away to Bradford City on 7 December, followed by trips to Luton Town in the Football League Trophy and a home FA Cup tie against Wycombe Wanderers.
