England forward Lauren James has spoken candidly about the pain of losing the Women's Euros final to Spain, admitting the defeat is "hard to take" but vowing the team will come back stronger.
The 22-year-old Chelsea star, who played a key role in the Lionesses' run to the final, described the "rollercoaster of emotions" following the 1-0 loss in front of a record-breaking Wembley crowd.
An Emotional Night at Wembley
James revealed the squad was left devastated after Spain's Olga Carmona struck the decisive goal in the first half, dashing England's hopes of back-to-back European titles.
"We gave everything, but sometimes football doesn’t go your way," she said. "The support from the fans was incredible, and that’s what makes it even tougher—we wanted to win it for them."
Looking Ahead to the Future
Despite the heartbreak, James remains optimistic about England’s future, insisting the squad will use the defeat as motivation.
"This isn’t the end for us," she declared. "We’ve shown what we’re capable of, and we’ll keep pushing to achieve more. The belief in this team is stronger than ever."
The young forward, who has been tipped as one of the brightest talents in women’s football, also thanked fans for their unwavering support throughout the tournament.
