Ian Wright Recalls 'Worrying' Moment Laura Woods Collapsed on Air

Ian Wright has described the moment Laura Woods collapsed during ITV's coverage of England's 2-0 win over Ghana as 'worrying', but confirmed she is recovering well.

The presenter stumbled live on air at St Mary's Stadium, with Wright and fellow pundit Anita Asante catching her before she fell. The broadcast cut to the teams warming up before an advert break.

Speaking on The Overlap with Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher and Jill Scott, Wright said: 'She's fine. I got a message from her this morning. It was worrying at the time but she's fine.'

Scott added that Woods believed she had a virus. Keane joked about Wright's 'knack' for catching women, but stressed that Woods being okay was what mattered.

Woods later said on social media she was 'really embarrassed' but thanked ITV colleagues for looking after her. Paramedics diagnosed a virus and advised rest and hydration.

Katie Shanahan stepped in as an emergency replacement, telling viewers: 'As you have probably noticed we don't have the wonderful Laura Woods because she's just been taken ill but she's in very good hands.'
