Kinsky in Line for Shock Tottenham Recall After Vicario Surgery

Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky could be thrust back into action after the club confirmed Guglielmo Vicario will undergo surgery on a hernia within the next week. The Czech Republic Under-21 international was replaced just 17 minutes into Spurs' Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid following two errors in a disastrous performance.

Kinsky, 22, had been given a rare start by interim head coach Igor Tudor in that match. Vicario returned for the 1-1 draw at Liverpool and the 3-2 home win over Atletico in the return leg, but the Italy international is now set for a period on the sidelines.

The timing of the surgery has been planned to minimise disruption, with Tottenham releasing a statement confirming the operation will take place after Sunday's crucial relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest. The statement added that Vicario will begin immediate rehabilitation and could return within a month.

Spurs' next fixture after the home match against Forest is a trip to Sunderland on 12 April, followed by a home game against Brighton on 18 April. Kinsky, who joined from Slavia Prague in January, now appears likely to be recalled to the starting lineup for those matches.
