Harry Kane has indicated he is open to extending his contract with Bayern Munich, casting doubt on a potential return to the Premier League. The England captain, whose current deal runs until 2027, acknowledged a reported £56.7m release clause but stressed he is in no rush to decide his future.
Speaking ahead of England's matches against Wales and Latvia, Kane admitted his desire to return to English football has diminished since leaving Tottenham Hotspur in 2023. 'If you had asked me when I first left, I would have said for sure I would come back. Now I have been there a couple of years, I would probably say that has gone down a little bit,' he said.
The 32-year-old striker has made a blistering start to the season, scoring 19 goals for club and country. He credited Bayern manager Vincent Kompany for his continued improvement, noting he is 'seeing the game at the highest level I've ever had'. Kane also highlighted his defensive contributions, saying he now enjoys watching tackles as much as goals.
Kane's Ballon d'Or ambitions remain alive, but he acknowledged winning the Champions League or the World Cup with England next summer would be crucial. 'It would be an accumulation of doing something great individually and as a team. It would be almost the perfect season,' he said.
On England's squad, Kane backed manager Thomas Tuchel's decision to omit Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden, citing form and fitness issues. 'It is a big change, but that's not my decision. That's the boss – he will feel the feeling amongst the players,' Kane added.
