Manchester United's new striker Benjamin Sesko has received glowing endorsements from both his international manager and club boss, with Slovenia coach Matjaz Kek describing the 22-year-old as a 'modern striker par excellence' who possesses an infectious energy. Kek, who gave Sesko his senior debut at 18, told reporters: 'From time to time, I have to stop him and calm him down. It's just the amazing energy he has. He is like a magnet, and such a positive one.'
Sesko completed a £74million move from RB Leipzig to Old Trafford last week, signing a five-year contract. The forward scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, and was also tracked by Arsenal and Newcastle before choosing United. Kek highlighted the forward's development since his debut: 'We're talking about a physically strong centre-forward who has made great progress, also technically, month after month. He has become a very important part of the team.'
United manager Ruben Amorim echoed Kek's sentiments, stating: 'He has the characteristics that we needed. He is really young, good in the air, good running the channels, and good on the ball. I think he has great potential.' Amorim added that Sesko's diligent character means 'we need to stop the guy from working', echoing Kek's assessment of a player who would 'train day and night to achieve his goal.'
Sesko himself expressed excitement about United's future, saying: 'When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon.' He joins a United side that lacked a 10-goal league scorer last season, and is expected to partner Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in attack as the club prepare for their Premier League opener against Arsenal.
