Manchester United have officially confirmed the permanent transfer of Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli for a reported £38 million, triggering a conditional obligation to buy after the striker helped the Italian side secure Champions League qualification.
Hojlund, 23, joined Napoli on a season-long loan last summer, scoring 12 goals in 33 Serie A appearances as the club finished second in the league. The Denmark international netted 16 times in 44 games across all competitions during his loan spell.
United's statement read: 'Rasmus Hojlund has joined Napoli on a permanent transfer. He spent last season on loan at the Italian club, scoring 16 times in 44 games across all competitions, and has now permanently joined the Neapolitans.'
Hojlund, a boyhood United fan, signed from Atalanta in 2023 and scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for the Red Devils. He was part of the squad that won the FA Cup in 2024, coming on as a substitute in the final against Manchester City.
The transfer provides a timely financial boost for United, marking the club's third confirmed departure of the summer after Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia. Hojlund had already bid an emotional farewell on Instagram, describing the move as 'bittersweet' and thanking United fans for making his childhood dream come true.
