Hill Dickinson Stadium is under consideration to host the Super League Grand Final in the future, according to Rhodri Jones, managing director of Rugby League Commercial. The Grand Final has been held at Manchester United's Old Trafford since 1998, except for 2020 when it was played at Hull's KCOM Stadium due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The current three-year deal with Old Trafford runs until 2027.
New Venues Under Review
Jones confirmed that Manchester City's Etihad Stadium is also a contender, but Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton's waterfront home, is expected to be on the list of potential hosts. “Our current term with Old Trafford ends in October 2027, so there are two more finals at Old Trafford,” Jones told the ECHO. “But after that there are other contenders now for consideration to host the Grand Final, and you would expect Hill Dickinson Stadium would be on that list. And I am sure that they would be very keen to host such a prestigious event like the Grand Final that has only ever been played at two venues, predominantly Old Trafford and, one year, at Hull during Covid.”
Magic Weekend Returns to Liverpool
This weekend, Hill Dickinson Stadium hosts the Magic Weekend, a Super League event featuring all 12 teams. Over 76,000 tickets have been sold, surpassing the previous record attendance of 68,276 set at Newcastle United's St James' Park in 2016. The event marks the second non-football event at the stadium, following the Ashes Test between England and Australia in November 2025.

For the first time since Everton moved to the stadium, fans will enjoy live performances from chart-topping artists Example on Saturday and Jax Jones on Sunday, performing between games. “It is about being culturally relevant,” Jones said. “Speaking to a younger demographic is one of our strategies. The decision to bring Example and Jax Jones to the venue adds to that festival vibe that we are looking for at the weekend. Our fans want to come and have a good time and we felt that these two artists would add that for them. I am sure the roof will come off when those two perform.”
