Queens Park Rangers have given manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink their unanimous backing following an internal investigation into allegations made by the Daily Telegraph. The newspaper claimed Hasselbaink requested a £55,000 fee to work for a fake south-east Asian firm seeking to sell players to the club.
The investigation was launched after undercover reporters filmed Hasselbaink. The Dutchman denied any wrongdoing, and the club stated that the Telegraph failed to provide requested information, including video footage and a full transcript of the discussions.
In a statement, QPR said: 'Despite a number of requests from the club and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s legal team for the information relating to the inferences made on September 28th, including video footage and a full transcript of the discussions that took place, nothing has been forthcoming.'
The club added: 'As a result, and in the absence of any further evidence, the board fully back QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and his explanations relating to these inferences.'
Hasselbaink admitted he was naive and has been reminded of his responsibilities. He remains focused on his job with the board's full support.
