Super-agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly attempting to facilitate Harry Kane's move to Manchester United by seeking replacements for the Tottenham striker. According to The Athletic, Mendes has held talks with Benfica's Darwin Nunez and Roma's Tammy Abraham about potential moves to Spurs, in an effort to open the door for United to sign Kane.
Kane, who has two years remaining on his Tottenham contract, rejected a new deal last summer after Manchester City's transfer attempts. Although he has formed a strong bond under coach Antonio Conte, this summer could be Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy's last chance to secure a significant fee for the England captain.
Manchester United were among the interested parties last summer but ultimately signed Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo. Former United chief Ed Woodward informed Levy of interest in Kane but conceded a move would wait until 2022. With Manchester City now leading the race for Erling Haaland, United could turn their attention to Kane as a marquee signing.
Ronaldo has raised the possibility of United playing two strikers, and the addition of Kane could make that a reality. When asked about his future while on England duty, Kane said: "My main focus is finishing this season, I can’t control what’s going to happen in the future. I want to be going into that tournament in the best form possible."
