Nagelsmann Points Finger at Liverpool Over Wirtz Form

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann has suggested that Florian Wirtz's recent dip in form is partly due to Liverpool's instability this season. Speaking ahead of Germany's World Cup qualifiers, Nagelsmann made thinly-veiled criticisms of the Premier League club.

Wirtz, who joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen for £116 million, has started seven league games without registering a goal or assist. His latest underwhelming performance came in a difficult outing against Manchester City.

Nagelsmann said: 'The whole club itself is not as stable this year as it was last year. It's much harder to slip into the team now. If you look vs City, they were the worse team over the 90 minutes. So it is also difficult for Flo to make any real big impact.'

The Germany boss also called on Wirtz's Liverpool teammates to convert chances he creates: 'Liverpool could also help him out by scoring some of the chances he creates. That would be one idea, because he does create a few chances. It is just that they somehow do not like to shoot the ball in.'

Nagelsmann urged patience, noting that Wirtz is still young and needs time to adapt to the Premier League. Wirtz has been called up for Germany's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg and Slovakia.
