Former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is training at 10th-tier Flixton FC as he continues to search for a new club. The 26-year-old was released at the end of his United contract in June and is using the club's facilities to stay fit.
Sancho's recent moves
Sancho spent the last two seasons on loan at Aston Villa and Chelsea, having previously spent half a season at Borussia Dortmund after a fallout with Erik ten Hag. He is now available on a free transfer.
Earlier this week, Sancho trained at Flixton's Valley Road ground, near United's Carrington base. Rhodri Giggs, brother of Ryan Giggs, is reportedly assistant manager at the reformed club.
Club statement and interview
Flixton FC said: "Great to have Jadon Sancho down at Flixton FC today. The former Manchester United winger has been using our facilities to train, and we had the chance to catch up with him during his visit. Thanks for spending some time with us Jadon, and all the very best for what's next."
The club posted a video with a short interview. Sancho said: "It's going well, first of all thank you for letting me use your pitch, it's much appreciated. You've got a nice layout here. It's my first time around this area and it's the first time I've seen a nice pitch other than United or City."
Potential move to Qatar
Sancho has reportedly been offered a deal by Qatari side Al Rayyan, who aim to win the Qatar Stars League for the first time since 2016. A move would reunite him with ex-Premier League striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who scored five goals in 11 games after joining in September.
The £73 million signing was also spotted in Portugal last week, visiting a store in Vilamoura. A store spokesperson said: "Another big name visiting our stores. This time we received a visit from Jadon Sancho at our Vilamoura store. Thank you for the visit."
