Fox has issued an apology after a power outage caused a 15-minute delay during the broadcast of Game 1 of the World Series between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets.
The disruption occurred in the middle of the fourth inning, when the broadcaster's truck at Kauffman Stadium lost power. Viewers were left with a screen reading: “We are experiencing technical difficulties, please stand by.”
The outage meant that audiences missed Kendrys Morales striking out. When the feed returned, Major League Baseball official Joe Torre was shown on the field speaking with umpires and both teams' managers.
To restore coverage, Fox switched to the MLB Network's feed, which had been used as the international broadcast. The remainder of the game proceeded without further issues.
