Nottingham Forest have started their summer clear-out by announcing that four senior players will leave the club when their contracts expire on June 30. Goalkeepers Stefan Ortega and Angus Gunn, defender Willy Boly, and striker Lorenzo Lucca, whose loan from Napoli was not made permanent, are all departing the City Ground.
The moves mark the beginning of an important transfer window for Forest, with Premier League clubs able to officially conduct business from Monday, June 15, until the deadline on September 1. Manager Vitor Pereira's squad is not in need of major overhaul, but the Portuguese coach will aim to strengthen sufficiently to challenge for a return to European football.
Forest may have significant funds available if Manchester City pay a large fee for Elliot Anderson. However, the club has also shown a willingness to explore the free agent market, where several experienced Premier League players are available after being released by their clubs.
Among the notable free agents are Brighton's Soloman March, James Milner, and Joel Veltman, as well as Burnley's Martin Dubravka and Crystal Palace's Nathaniel Clyne. Forest could look to add depth in goal or defence without spending a transfer fee.
