Search and rescue teams are scouring the waters off a famous Indonesian island after a tourist boat carrying a Spanish football coach and his family sank, claiming four lives.

The tragic incident occurred overnight on Saturday, 27 December 2025, near Padar Island within the Komodo National Park, a popular destination for tourists. The vessel, which was carrying a total of 11 people, reportedly suffered a catastrophic engine failure during its trip.

Indonesian authorities have confirmed that debris from the sunken boat has been located. Items recovered include a gas cylinder and multiple fragments of the vessel's hull, scattered across the search area.

Valencia CF Coach Confirmed Among Victims

Fernando Martín, a coach affiliated with La Liga club Valencia CF, has been confirmed as one of the deceased. The Spanish sports figure was on holiday with his family when the accident happened.

Tragically, three members of Martín's family also lost their lives in the sinking. The identities of the other victims and the condition of any survivors have not been immediately disclosed by officials coordinating the response.
