Facebook co-founder approached over Liverpool stake

Liverpool have reportedly approached Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin as part of a consortium to buy a stake in the club, according to Sky News.

Saverin's wealth and background

The Brazilian entrepreneur, who has a reported net worth of £24.3bn according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, was approached by the club several weeks ago. The 44-year-old co-founded Facebook in 2004 with Mark Zuckerberg and is now a partner at B Capital Group, a US-based venture capital firm that backs AI, healthcare and financial startups.

Previous Chelsea interest

Saverin was part of a consortium that attempted to buy Chelsea during the 2022 auction of the Premier League club following Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Liverpool are seeking to sell a minority stake that would make the buyer the second-largest shareholder at Anfield.
