A prominent NFL Draft analyst has delivered a damning verdict on the state of one franchise, claiming that not a single college prospect wants to be drafted by the New York Jets this year.
A Stark Warning for Top Prospects
As the NFL regular season concludes and teams turn their focus to April's draft, ESPN's Todd McShay issued a shocking advisory. He specifically directed his comments towards the representatives of Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, a player projected to be a top-two quarterback selected. McShay suggested that Moore's camp should actively work to avoid the Jets, who hold the second overall pick.
"I promise you, not one single player in this draft wants to be a New York Jet," McShay stated emphatically. He proposed a radical alternative for Moore: returning to college for another season rather than risking a move to the beleaguered AFC East team.
The Jets' Catastrophic Season
McShay's stark warning follows a historically poor campaign for the Jets under head coach Aaron Glenn. The team finished the 2025 season with a dismal 3-14 record, placing them bottom of their division. Their defensive unit set an unwanted record by failing to secure a single interception throughout the entire season.
This performance has left the franchise in apparent disarray, with fans desperately calling for a new quarterback to act as a saviour. The Jets' struggles have evidently created a perception problem, making them a destination top talents now wish to shun.
Moore's Dilemma and the Draft Landscape
The analyst's advice centres on Oregon's star signal-caller, Dante Moore. After a year on the sidelines in 2024, Moore enjoyed a stellar breakout season in 2025, throwing for 3,046 yards and 28 touchdowns while leading the Ducks to the College Football Playoff.
McShay suggested Moore's agents should first contact the Las Vegas Raiders, who hold the first overall pick and are expected to select Indiana's Fernando Mendoza. The idea would be to gauge if a deal to make Moore the number one pick is possible. "Would you or would you not, as the rep for Dante Moore, reach out to the Raiders..." McShay posed. "We can live with going to 30 of 32 teams. Maybe it's 31. But I can't allow him to go to the New York Jets."
He argued that returning to Oregon, where Moore could likely earn comparable money through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals to his rookie contract, is a safer bet than joining the Jets' current environment. This unprecedented public counsel highlights the profound challenges facing the New York franchise as they attempt to rebuild their roster and their reputation ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
