Wayne Rooney was left red-faced after being pranked by Twitch star Angry Ginge, real name Morgan Burtwistle, who tricked the Manchester United legend into waking up early for a fake FIFA training session. The prank forced Rooney to get his wife Coleen to do the school run instead.
Angry Ginge, who is set to appear on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! this year, revealed the prank during a livestream. He told Rooney to be ready for 'training' at 8am, but it was a joke. Rooney woke up at 7.30am, controller in hand, only to discover the truth.
"I've had to tell my missus that I can't do the school run because I've got training," Rooney reportedly told Ginge, who could barely contain his laughter. Coleen, who finished second in last year's I'm A Celebrity, was left to take the children to school instead.
The prank came after an earlier incident where Rooney called Ginge a "ginger c***" during a live FIFA match. The insult, which went viral, was provoked by Ginge teasing Rooney for poor gameplay. The duo had become friends after playing EA FC together in the Girth N Turf squad.
Angry Ginge, 24, is among the early favourites to win this year's I'm A Celebrity, which launches on Sunday. He admitted that Australia's wildlife, particularly spiders, had previously put him off visiting the country. "One of the reasons I vowed to never go to Australia was because of the spiders and animals," he said.
