Jamie Carragher Slams Mo Salah's 'Silence' Amid Liverpool Crisis
Carragher questions Salah's silence on Liverpool crisis

Liverpool legend turned pundit Jamie Carragher has publicly criticised star forward Mohamed Salah for remaining silent amidst the team's dramatic slump in form, intensifying their long-running feud.

The Latest Confrontation

Following Liverpool's bruising 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, Carragher used his platform on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football to take aim at Salah. He expressed frustration that captain Virgil van Dijk was consistently the only player facing the media after poor results.

"I must say on the back of all these Liverpool defeats it's always Van Dijk who comes out," Carragher stated. "And as I have said, the captain should do that but there should be other players in that dressing room coming out and speaking for the club."

Carragher directly challenged Salah, a senior figure at the club, suggesting the Egyptian only speaks publicly "when he gets man of the match or needs a new contract." He concluded, "I would like to see Salah come out as one of the leaders, one the legends of Liverpool, come out and speak for the team. It shouldn't always be the captain."

A History of Tension

This is not the first time Carragher has clashed with the Liverpool forward. The friction dates back to the summer of 2022 during speculation over Salah's contract. At that time, Carragher publicly criticised Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, on social media platform X.

He called out the agent's "cryptic crap" amid the uncertainty, directly telling Salah to "have a word" with his representative. The situation was eventually resolved when Salah signed a new three-year deal.

The feud was reignited last year when Salah gave a bombshell interview revealing he had not yet been offered a fresh contract. Carragher labelled the timing as poor, with crucial matches against Real Madrid and Manchester City on the horizon, and described the act as "selfish." Salah later responded with a subtle dig at Carragher during a separate Sky Sports interview.

Liverpool's Current Struggles

The context for this latest exchange is a severe downturn in Liverpool's performances. The Premier League champions have suffered six defeats in their last seven games across all competitions.

Salah himself has mirrored the team's struggles, scoring only twice in those seven matches, a stark contrast to the form that helped fire Liverpool to the title in manager Arne Slot's first season. While the entire team is underperforming, Carragher has singled out Salah's lack of public leadership as a particular issue during this crisis.

The pressure is mounting at Anfield, and this public criticism from a club icon highlights the growing sense of discontent surrounding the team's key players and their response to adversity.
