A recent poll conducted by Spanish media giant Mundo Deportivo has laid bare the shifting loyalties within the Barcelona fanbase, identifying two first-team stars the supporters are most eager to see depart the Camp Nou next summer.
Clear Verdict from the Culers
The survey, which quizzed 300 Barcelona club members, presented a stark picture of who the Blaugrana faithful believe should be part of the club's future. The results pinpointed midfield maestro Frenkie de Jong as the player most fans want sold, with 37.3% of the vote. He was closely followed by Uruguayan defensive pillar Ronald Araujo, who garnered 32.9%.
Beyond the primary sales question, the poll also sought opinions on two other crucial contract situations. Regarding veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, whose deal expires this summer, the sentiment was decisive. A significant 59.3% (178 members) stated they would not renew the 37-year-old Polish international's contract, with only 31.6% in favour of an extension.
Rashford's Loan Move Wins Approval
In contrast to the views on outgoings, the survey brought positive news for Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford. After a season adapting to La Liga, 54.66% of members expressed a desire to make his move permanent by triggering a reported £30 million option-to-buy clause. However, 35.66% would send him back to Old Trafford, and 6.3% believe the decision should wait until the season concludes.
Rashford has won over a majority of fans with his contributions, providing seven goals and 11 assists across all competitions this campaign, proving a potent threat from the left flank.
Other Notable Names and Lewandowski's Penalty Blunder
The poll revealed other surprising opinions within the fanbase. German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was the third-most named player for a potential sale, receiving 13.6% of the vote. Striker Ferran Torres followed with 6.3%.
Interestingly, while Lewandowski was a clear loser in the renewal question, only 2.3% named him as a player they actively wanted sold. His fate appears sealed by age and a specific moment of misfortune: a horrendous missed penalty against Atletico Madrid earlier this month, which Spanish newspaper AS labelled 'one of the worst penalties in LaLiga history'. This incident seems to have cemented the view that his time at the club should conclude.
The survey even showed that no player is entirely sacred, with two members voting to sell 18-year-old Ballon d'Or runner-up Lamine Yamal.
