Ruben Amorim is set to reject West Ham United after holding talks with the club in London on Monday, while Liverpool’s pursuit of the Sporting Lisbon head coach remains on hold for now.
The 39-year-old met with Hammers officials as they prepare for life after David Moyes, who is widely expected to leave when his contract expires in June. However, Amorim does not consider a move to the London Stadium the right fit, despite West Ham’s attempt to move ahead of Liverpool in the race for his signature.
Liverpool’s interest in Amorim has been paused, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich also linked to the Portuguese manager. The uncertainty comes as the Reds continue their search for a successor to Jurgen Klopp, who announced his departure in January.
Amorim guided Sporting to a league title in 2021 and currently has the club seven points clear at the top of the Primeira Liga. He has declined to guarantee his future, stating that if Sporting fails to win the title, he will leave.
West Ham, meanwhile, are likely to part ways with Moyes after four seasons, with fan discontent growing following a 5-2 defeat at Crystal Palace. The club are considering Julen Lopetegui as a potential replacement.
