Former England and Arsenal footballer Alex Scott faces a crucial challenge as she enters the Australian jungle for the 25th series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Her full payment for appearing on the hit ITV show is entirely dependent on her ability to stick to a specific and strict rule.
The 72-Hour Jungle Mandate
According to reports, Scott, 42, must remain in the jungle camp for a minimum of 72 hours to receive her complete appearance fee. Failure to last the three-day period could result in the BBC Sport presenter leaving Australia without the full financial reward she agreed upon.
This clause is a standard part of the contract for celebrities entering the jungle, ensuring participants give the show a fair chance before they can opt to leave. Scott is one of ten campmates, including reality TV's Jack Osbourne, rapper Aitch, and streamer Angry Ginge, who are taking part in the new series which begins on Sunday.
Scott's Pre-Jungle Preparations
Before jetting off, Scott emotionally parted ways with her partner, singer Jess Glynne. The ex-Lioness, who earned 140 caps for England, also reflected on the success of her former teammate, Jill Scott, who was crowned Queen of the Jungle in 2022.
Scott admitted that winning the competition herself would be a massive shock. "I have been retired a lot longer than Jill and in my head, she had that moment and it has been done," she told ITV. "It would take a lot and if I did win, I would burst out crying. I don't think I would even expect it."
From Football Pitch to Jungle Camp
Alex Scott is no stranger to discipline and endurance, honed over a distinguished 12-year playing career. She won an impressive 22 trophies across three spells with Arsenal and represented England for 13 years before moving into a successful broadcasting career.
She follows in the footsteps of other footballing figures on the show, such as Arsenal icon Ian Wright and former manager Harry Redknapp. When it comes to the meagre jungle diet of rice and beans, Scott feels prepared. With her Jamaican heritage, she said, "I love rice. If I come out of the jungle never wanting to eat rice again, I'm going to be devastated!"
