Arsenal Face Gabriel Jesus Exit Decision After AC Milan

Arsenal have a summer transfer decision to make regarding Gabriel Jesus after AC Milan reignited their interest in the Brazilian striker. The 29-year-old has struggled to meet expectations since his £45m move from Manchester City in 2022, scoring 31 goals in 121 appearances but being plagued by injuries and falling down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta.

AC Milan's Pursuit

According to reports in Italy, AC Milan have never fully ended their interest in Jesus, having targeted him last summer and in January. The Serie A side are desperate to bolster their attack, with Santiago Gimenez and Niclas Fullkrug currently out of favour under manager Max Allegri, while Rafael Leao is not a conventional centre-forward and has been linked with a move away.

Allegri reportedly held a three-hour meeting with Milan chiefs this week to determine the club's transfer strategy, with a new striker being the top priority. Jesus could be available for a reduced fee as he has just one year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Jesus's Future

Jesus has previously spoken about a potential return to his former club Palmeiras. In an interview with Globo Esporte earlier this season, he said: "My relationship with Palmeiras has always been very good and always will be – I have immense gratitude. My desire is to one day return to Palmeiras and win even more titles, because I've already experienced the taste of winning titles at Palmeiras."

He added: "And it's something that's still within me, it's a very strong desire. I have a contract with Arsenal. Obviously, my situation at Arsenal has changed from what it was before. But my main focus today remains Arsenal, making things happen here, helping in whatever way the manager needs, and then, obviously, when the season is over, we'll start thinking about it."

Arteta is looking to rebuild his squad this summer, and Jesus is among those who could leave. The Gunners have signed Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres to strengthen the attack, pushing Jesus further down the pecking order.
