Newsboy has put forward Halmede as his Nap for Tuesday's three meetings, with the filly fancied to land the 4.15 at Catterick. Doralee, his next best, can complete a Daily Double by winning the final race on the same card.
Halmede can strike on handicap debut
Halmede, trained by Sir Mark Prescott, has been unplaced in all three career starts to date, all of which came over a mile on the all-weather. Last seen at Southwell in June, she was never better than midfield and finished 13 lengths behind Centigrade at 300-1 after being outpaced.
The daughter of Sea The Moon is bred to relish the extra half-mile of the RacingTV.com Handicap on Tuesday and should give a far better account in the hands of Luke Morris. The main threat is likely to come from Hansteen, prepared by John and Sean Quinn, who has finished in the top two in each of his last three outings.
Doralee can end the wait
Doralee, trained by David and Nicola Barron, has been consistent without winning, but she has a great chance to change that in the 4.45, the Racing Again 17th August Handicap over five furlongs. The mare went close over the same trip at Ripon last month, making good headway under Rowan Scott before failing by a head to catch Zuffalo. Jason Hart takes over in the saddle today, and a similar display would make her hard to beat.
