PMQs Clash: Starmer Slams Sunak Over 'Weak' Reshuffle as Labour Lead in Polls
Starmer Slams Sunak's 'Weak' Reshuffle as Labour Lead Soars

In a fiery session of Prime Minister's Questions, Sir Keir Starmer launched a scathing attack on Rishi Sunak, labelling his recent Cabinet reshuffle a sign of a "weak and desperate" leader clinging to power.

The Labour leader seized on the return of former Prime Minister David Cameron to frontline politics, questioning the Prime Minister's judgement. "He's so weak he had to bring back the former prime minister he once blamed for the failed austerity policies and the Brexit referendum that damaged our economy," Starmer declared across the despatch box.

Polling Points to Labour Landslide

The heated exchange in the Commons comes as a devastating new poll for the Conservatives reveals the scale of their challenge. The Savanta survey for the Telegraph puts Labour a staggering 20 points ahead.

Perhaps more alarmingly for Tory MPs, the poll suggests the reshuffle, intended to reset the government's agenda, has failed to move the dial with voters. Over half of those surveyed (52%) believe the Conservative Party is divided, a perception the return of a former Prime Minister seems to have done little to dispel.

A Reshuffle of 'Desperation Not Vision'

Starmer framed the appointment of Lord Cameron and the sacking of Suella Braverman as an act of political panic, not renewal. "This wasn't a reshuffle driven by strength or new ideas," he argued. "It was a desperate stunt from a Prime Minister who is out of time and out of ideas."

He contrasted the move with Labour's "long-term plan to rebuild Britain," positioning his party as the serious alternative ready for government. The PMQs clash sets the stage for what promises to be a highly contentious political battle in the run-up to the next general election.
