Dr Mehmet Oz, the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, stepped in to help a woman who collapsed during President Donald Trump's rally in Kentucky on Wednesday. About half an hour into Trump's speech, an elderly woman in the crowd behind him fainted, prompting Trump to call for a doctor.
Dr Oz, who was in attendance, responded along with event first responders. Trump paused his speech and assured the crowd they had 'all the time' for the woman to be treated. He suggested playing the song 'Ave Maria', which he has used at previous rallies, but the song was not played.
After about seven minutes, the woman recovered and was helped to her feet, greeted by cheers. Trump noted Dr Oz's involvement, saying, 'It's Dr Oz, can you believe it? Dr Oz! He's a good doctor. Thank you, Oz.'
Trump then resumed his speech, criticising California Governor Gavin Newsom and calling on Kentuckians to vote out Republican Congressman Thomas Massie. Massie has opposed Trump on several issues, including the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, tariffs, and the war in Iran. Trump has endorsed Massie's primary opponent, Ed Gallrein.
