West Midlands Police has introduced a new fleet of off-road motorbikes to enhance its ability to tackle anti-social behaviour in hard-to-reach areas. The three Honda CRF bikes, purchased through the Proceeds of Crime fund, are equipped with flashing police lights and will be used by specially trained officers.
The bikes will allow police to access public parks, paths, and wasteland, where traditional vehicles cannot go. A specialist off-road bike team will also assist in searching for high-risk missing and vulnerable people.
Sergeant Fran Allen stated: "This summer, in your areas, you will see regular operations involving my team working with neighbourhood officers and the drones team to identify and arrest offenders." The initiative is part of a new policing model aimed at cracking down on crime across the Midlands.
