The weapon, a large black shotgun identified as a Mossberg Maverick 12-gauge, was allegedly carried by 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen as he ran past US Secret Service agents.

The suspect was apprehended just yards away from the dinner venue, where President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, First Lady Melania Trump, and most of the Cabinet were dining on Saturday evening. Allen was allegedly brandishing the shotgun when he rushed toward security at the Washington Hilton gala.

New Images Released

Alongside the weapon photo, authorities released a new image of Allen showing him shirtless and wrapped in a foil blanket shortly after being subdued by law enforcement. The suspect is now in custody, and the investigation continues.
