Shaughna Phillips, the 32-year-old Love Island star, was left horrified after her baby daughter Sofia narrowly escaped being hit on the head by a falling curtain rail. The incident, which occurred at her mother's home in Kent, was allegedly caused by poorly finished work.
Shocking Moment Caught on Camera
Taking to social media, Shaughna shared a clip of the shocking moment captured by a camera. She was relaxing on the sofa with her two children—Lucia, three, and Sofia, six months—whom she shares with boyfriend Billy Webb, when the curtain rail came crashing down off the wall onto the couch.
Pieces of debris flew across the room as Shaughna managed to quickly move her baby to safety. In horror and shock, she could be heard yelling 'f***ing hell' as she came to terms with what happened.
Alleged Poor Workmanship
Explaining the scary ordeal, Shaughna said her mum had new windows installed in the living room and alleged that a 'huge crack' formed from the works. Alongside the clip, she wrote: 'I have absolutely no words… We've been asking for this to be fixed for months, an operative came out and plastered over the huge crack without actually fixing it. We complained while he was still here (because he refused to do anything else).'
She added: 'His boss said "No that's not good enough it needs to be properly fixed". This was weeks ago, this has been months of telling surveyors, managers, operatives. Tonight it was millimetres from hitting my baby. If I hadn't moved her out the way seconds before, falling debris would've hit her straight in the face.'
'I am so angry that things like this are just left and no one takes accountability from the planners all the way up to the managers. Thank god we're not on our way up to A&E tonight.'
Companies Called Out
The star took aim at L&Q Homes and the Wates Group, tagging their accounts on her Instagram story. The Daily Mail has contacted both companies for a comment.
David Lewis, Executive Group Director, Property and Investment at L&Q, told the Daily Mail: 'We're very sorry for the problems Mrs Phillips has experienced with improvement work in her home, and the time it has taken to put things right. Our team has been in touch to offer support, and visited earlier today to securely fix the curtain pole and ensure everything is safe. We'll be returning early next week with our contractor to ensure full repairs are carried out as soon as possible.'
