Photographs released by the US Justice Department show how Prince Andrew facilitated access for convicted child sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to the upper echelons of British society. The images include Epstein and Maxwell hunting with Andrew at Balmoral and in the royal box at Ascot. One photo shows Maxwell outside 10 Downing Street.
Another image, taken at Sandringham, shows Andrew reclining across the legs of five people whose faces have been redacted, with Maxwell peering down and smiling at him. A separate picture from 2002 depicts Maxwell in Winston Churchill's war rooms with former US president Bill Clinton and actor Kevin Spacey.
The release of documents, mandated by the Epstein Files Transparency Act, includes hundreds of photos and files. The US deputy attorney general said 'several hundred thousand' documents would be released, with more to follow to protect victims' identities. The files also feature images of former prime minister Tony Blair and musician Mick Jagger, though no wrongdoing is suggested.
Andrew's association with Epstein ultimately led to his departure from royal duties in 2019 and a settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who alleged she was trafficked by Epstein and sexually assaulted by Andrew. He has denied the claims. King Charles stripped Andrew of his royal titles in October.
