Kevin Hart Defends Tony Hinchcliffe's George Floyd Joke at Netflix Roast

Kevin Hart has defended Tony Hinchcliffe's controversial set at his Netflix roast, including a joke about George Floyd. Speaking on 'The Breakfast Club', Hart said the joke was not tasteful to Black culture but argued that roast audiences understand the context of such humour.

Hinchcliffe told Hart during the roast: 'The Black community is so proud of you. Right now, George Floyd is looking up at us all laughing so hard he can't breathe.' Hart stated he was not shocked, noting that similar humour is used at other roasts, such as Tom Brady's.

When asked if Hinchcliffe crossed a line, Hart replied: 'I don't expect less. I don't expect more.' He added that Hinchcliffe 'arguably had the best set or one of the best sets', alongside Pete Davidson. Hart emphasised he would not tell such jokes himself but understands why they are told.

Hart distanced himself from the backlash, saying: 'Remove me from it. I didn't say it.' He noted that the roast was a production and he had no control over the jokes. Chelsea Handler later criticised the set as 'racist' and 'sexist', particularly targeting a lynching joke by Shane Gillis.
