Apple to Pay iPhone Owners Up to $95 in Siri Settlement

Some iPhone owners could receive cash payments of up to $95 after Apple agreed to a $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit over false advertising of its artificial intelligence capabilities for Siri.

Apple's $250 Million Settlement

On Tuesday, Apple reached a $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The lawsuit alleged that Apple deceived consumers with a marketing campaign promoting AI features for Siri that did not yet exist, misleading them into purchasing new iPhones.

Eligible Devices and Payments

The settlement covers approximately 37 million devices bought in the United States between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, including all iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Owners are eligible for a minimum payment of $25 per device, with the amount potentially increasing to $95 depending on the number of claims filed and other factors.

Background of the Case

Apple introduced new AI features for Siri under the branding “Apple Intelligence” when it launched the iPhone 16 in 2024. However, two years later, the company has yet to deliver on the promised Siri revamp, causing frustration among buyers who expected immediate access. The lawsuit claimed that customers would not have purchased the devices or would have paid significantly less had they known the features were delayed.

Apple's AI development continues to lag behind rivals like Google and Samsung, which have already rolled out similar technologies. Apple is expected to unveil its Siri upgrade this year, likely at its annual developer conference next month.

How to File a Claim

Eligible customers will be notified by email or mail and can file a claim on a dedicated settlement website. In a statement, Apple said, “We resolved this matter to stay focused on doing what we do best, delivering the most innovative products and services to our users.”

If approved by a judge, this settlement would be one of the largest ever for Apple.
