Nicolas Raskin has acknowledged that Rangers will continue to face questions about their mentality unless they secure a major trophy. The Belgian midfielder spoke ahead of a crucial match against Hearts, emphasizing the need for victory to keep their title hopes alive.
Pressure mounts after Motherwell defeat
Last Sunday's 3-2 loss at home to Motherwell was another setback for Rangers, who had clawed back a 13-point deficit to challenge for the league lead. Raskin conceded that until they win a significant trophy, doubts will persist. 'Until we win a big thing, I think that's going to always be there,' he said. However, he defended his teammates, noting that coming back from 13 points behind showed character.
Do-or-die at Tynecastle
With Rangers now four points behind Hearts, Monday's match at Tynecastle is critical. 'We know it's a do-or-die game,' Raskin stated. 'Either we win it and we are in it for the title, or we lose and it's going to be very tough.' He stressed that the team must focus on winning each game and believes points will be dropped by rivals.
Unfinished business for Raskin
Since joining Rangers, Raskin has won only the 2023-24 League Cup, which he missed through injury. He expressed a strong desire to win more trophies, particularly the league title. 'Winning trophies is something that I've been dreaming of since I came to the club,' he said. He also praised captain James Tavernier, calling him the best captain he could have had and hoping to deliver a league title for him.
Physical contest expected
Raskin anticipates a highly charged and physical battle at Tynecastle, with Hearts having a strong season. 'It's a game of second ball, 50-50s, fight and who's going to be the more efficient in the box,' he explained. The midfielder emphasized that the team must believe in themselves and put in the effort to secure a win.
