Neymar's Personal Chef Files Lawsuit Over Alleged Overwork and Injuries
Neymar's Chef Sues Over Alleged Overwork and Injuries

Neymar Jr.'s personal chef has reportedly initiated legal action against the Brazilian football superstar, alleging she was forced to work far beyond her contracted hours and sustained physical injuries while preparing and serving meals for the player and his extensive circle of friends.

Details of the Allegations

The 34-year-old footballer, who returned to his homeland last year after a major hamstring injury disrupted his high-profile transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, has been residing in Rio de Janeiro's Mangaratiba municipality. Neymar owns two luxury villas in the area, with his primary residence being Casa Hotel Portobello.

It was at this property that the chef was employed by Neymar from July 2025 until February of this year. According to a lawsuit filed at the Regional Labor Court of the 1st Region, what began as a straightforward culinary role allegedly evolved into a position that severely impacted the woman's health.

Excessive Working Hours and Physical Strain

Brazilian outlet Metropoles, which claims to have reviewed the court documents, reports that the chef asserts she worked 16-hour days for Neymar. Her duties involved feeding not only the player but also up to 150 of his friends and associates on a daily basis.

The original employment contract stipulated working hours from 7am to 5pm, Monday through Thursday, and 7am to 4pm on Fridays. However, the chef contends that she frequently worked until 11pm or midnight, including on weekends, and was denied her legally mandated lunch breaks.

The physical demands of the job are said to have caused significant injury. Tasks included carrying large cuts of meat weighing approximately 10 kilograms each, loading and unloading heavy grocery bags, and standing for prolonged periods during her extended shifts. As a result, the worker reportedly developed back problems and hip inflammation.

Legal Claims and Financial Details

The chef, who earned a monthly salary of £1,065 (7,500 Brazilian reals), is seeking £37,544 (262,000 Brazilian reals) in compensation. This amount covers severance payments, fines, overtime pay, payment for missed breaks, damages, and medical expenses related to her injuries.

In addition to Neymar, the lawsuit also names the third-party employer who hired the chef on behalf of the former Barcelona prodigy as a plaintiff.

Neymar's Current Situation

Neymar, who signed a contract extension with Santos last June, is believed to have earned £11.8 million during the 2025-26 season. His lucrative new deal includes a share of sponsorships and investments generated by his return to his boyhood club.

The Brazil international, who is currently vying for a spot in Carlo Ancelotti's World Cup squad, has declined to comment on the allegations when approached by Brazilian media outlets.
