Shocking Assault at Sydney Bus Interchange Captured on Video
Disturbing mobile phone footage has emerged showing a group of teenage girls allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old girl at a busy bus stop in broad daylight. The incident occurred at the Mount Druitt bus interchange in western Sydney on Monday, with the video capturing the younger victim being punched, kicked, and dragged across the footpath.
Graphic Details of the Alleged Attack
In the video, which has circulated on social media, more than five girls wearing school uniforms can be seen surrounding the victim. One of the older girls is heard yelling 'bash this s**t' before the 12-year-old is allegedly punched and knocked to the ground. The assault lasted approximately one minute, with the victim seen covering her face while several attackers took turns dragging her.
Particularly disturbing moments include two kicks visibly striking the younger girl in the face within the first ten seconds of the alleged attack. The victim struggled to get up throughout the ordeal until a male bystander eventually intervened, helping her to her feet. Paramedics later arrived and transported the injured girl to hospital, though the teenage assailants had already dispersed before authorities reached the scene.
Family Speaks Out About Unprovoked Attack
The victim's aunt told news.com.au that her niece was attacked 'for no reason' while returning from shopping at Westfield. 'They just jumped her for no reason,' she explained. 'All of a sudden a gang of high schoolers, they just walked past her and picked her out and just jumped her.'
According to the family, the alleged attackers were not known to the 12-year-old victim. However, the aunt believes the assault may have stemmed from an earlier encounter between the parties at the nearby Westfield shopping centre. The victim is now attempting to press charges against the group, with New South Wales Police awaiting Westfield CCTV footage as part of their ongoing investigation.
Second Alleged Attack by Same Group
In a concerning development, a second video from later the same day allegedly shows the same group of teenagers assaulting another girl approximately four kilometres away in Lethbridge Park. The girl's aunt reported that both she and her sister were allegedly assaulted in this separate altercation.
Footage of this second incident was uploaded to Snapchat by the group themselves, who captioned the video with several laughing emojis. The family has reported this alleged attack to NSW Police, who have confirmed they are aware of both incidents.
Police Investigation Underway
NSW Police released a statement confirming officers were called to the Mount Druitt bus interchange around 6:50 PM on Monday following reports of an assault. 'Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command attended and were told a girl had been assaulted by a number of teenage girls,' the statement read.
The police noted that all those involved had left the scene prior to their arrival and confirmed they have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding both incidents. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the alleged assaults to contact Crime Stoppers as their investigation continues.
