Teenager Accused of School Stabbing Told Police It 'Felt Like a Dream'

A 13-year-old boy accused of trying to kill two pupils in a school stabbing that he filmed told police the incident 'felt like a dream' after his arrest, a court has heard. The suspect, who cannot be identified due to his age, allegedly carried out the attacks at Kingsbury High School in Brent, north London, on February 10.

Details of the Alleged Attacks

The defendant, a former pupil of the school, is accused of stabbing one 12-year-old boy in the neck with a kitchen knife in front of a classroom of children and a teacher. The victim sustained three stab wounds, a spinal fracture, and injuries to the neck and hands that required surgical intervention. Less than a minute later, the suspect allegedly stabbed a second boy, aged 13, in the neck in the playground. He is also charged with spraying ant repellent into the face of a third child during the incident, which occurred around 12.40pm.

Court Proceedings and Charges

The suspect appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from a youth detention centre, where he was seen fiddling with his hair and biting his thumb throughout the 20-minute hearing. He faces serious charges, including:

  • Two counts of attempted murder
  • Unlawfully and maliciously administering a noxious substance to a third child
  • Possession of a knife on school premises without good reason or lawful authority

No pleas were entered during the hearing. The boy, wearing a black jumper, confirmed his identity to the court and acknowledged understanding the proceedings when addressed by Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb.

Prosecution's Account of the Incident

Prosecutor Ben Lloyd outlined the case, stating that the suspect had allegedly purchased a can of insect spray before entering the school. He positioned a mobile phone in his blazer pocket to record the attacks. According to Mr Lloyd, the boy first sprayed a child in the face, then entered a classroom and stabbed another in the neck, before moving to the playground to attack the second victim. The suspect fled the scene but was detained by police three hours later, found crying near a mosque.

Aftermath and Security Concerns

A parent previously claimed the suspect gained access to the school premises by 'climbing over a wall', though it is understood that security staff were present at the main gate, which was often locked during the day. The conditions of the two alleged stab victims are not believed to be life-threatening. The suspect has been remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing scheduled for the end of July, with a provisional trial date set for November, expected to last up to three weeks.
