Model Faces Trial Over Alleged Dating App Scam Targeting Elderly Men
Adva Lavie, a 27-year-old model and influencer known for appearances in Playboy and Penthouse, has been accused of orchestrating a sophisticated scam to rob elderly men she met on dating apps. According to authorities, Lavie allegedly used these platforms to pose as a girlfriend or companion, gaining access to victims' homes before stealing cash, gold, and designer items to fund her extravagant lifestyle.
Details of the Alleged Scheme
Police claim that Lavie, who also goes by the name Mia Ventura, operated the scheme between 2023 and 2025, targeting at least five victims, with more than ten additional individuals coming forward in recent months. She is said to have driven to their residences in luxury vehicles, including a Porsche Macan SUV and a white Mercedes coupe, to maintain an image of wealth and trustworthiness.
Her online persona, featuring designer clothes, luxury cars, and international travel, reportedly helped build confidence among her targets. Beyond older men, Lavie has also been accused of stealing from younger women in affluent Los Angeles neighborhoods such as West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
Legal Charges and Court Proceedings
On Monday, a judge ruled that there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a full criminal trial against Lavie, who faces six felony counts. These include:
- Two counts of unauthorized use of personal identifying information
- Two counts of grand theft
- One count of first-degree residential burglary with a person present
- One count of first-degree residential burglary
In December, Lavie pleaded not guilty to all charges. She is currently out of custody on an ankle monitor and is scheduled for arraignment on April 6.
Statements from Authorities
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman emphasized the seriousness of the case in a statement on Wednesday. "This ruling means the evidence in this case will now be presented before a jury," he said. "At her trial, we will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that this defendant exploited trust built through online relationships to gain access to victims’ homes and steal from them. Her ability to deceptively influence others, whether in person or online, has now come to an end."
Hochman added that his office is committed to holding accountable those who use deception and manipulation to prey on others. If convicted on all counts, Lavie could face up to 11 years and eight months in prison.
Background and Police Alert
Last October, police issued an alert for Lavie, describing her as a suspect involved in a series of residential burglaries across Los Angeles County. The alert noted that she specifically targeted elderly men using social media dating platforms or applications. Lavie, who claims to be the first top Israeli OnlyFans model, has built a significant online following, which authorities say she leveraged in her alleged crimes.
This case highlights growing concerns about romance fraud and online scams, particularly those targeting vulnerable individuals through digital platforms. As the trial approaches, it serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with online dating and the importance of vigilance in personal interactions.
