A 21-year-old man who died in a horror crash involving a fire engine has been named in a heartbreaking tribute. Tommy Jarvis was hit by the emergency vehicle on the evening of May 25 while travelling home from his job at Miller & Carter on an e-scooter. He was rushed to hospital after the accident in Dartford, Kent, but sadly passed away two days later surrounded by loved ones in a London hospital.

Officials say the fire engine was travelling to a reported emergency. Kent Police are now appealing for witnesses with dashcam footage to come forward. The collision occurred at approximately 10.40pm on May 25 on Princes Road, Dartford, at the junction with Darenth Road.
Tributes and Fundraising
In a heartfelt tribute, a friend of Tommy said: 'Anyone who knew Tommy knows just how special he was. He was the biggest smile in every room, the loudest laugh, the friend who could lift your spirits no matter what kind of day you were having. He was kind, caring, loyal, and loved by so many. There will never, ever be another Tommy like him!'
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover funeral costs. According to the page, Tommy was waiting at a crossing for the green man signal before stepping onto the crossing and being tragically struck by an oncoming fire truck. So far, just over £2,000 has been raised of the £5,500 target.
Official Statements
Ann Millington, Chief Executive at Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS), said: 'At approximately 10.40pm on May 25, a fire engine was involved in a collision with an electric scooter in Princes Road, Dartford. The fire engine was travelling to a reported emergency. Kent Police has confirmed the rider of the electric scooter has sadly died. Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident.'
A Kent Police spokesman said: 'Officers along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) attended the scene and the rider of the e-scooter, a 21-year-old man, was taken to a London hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.'
A spokesperson for SECAmb added: 'Multiple crews attended the scene and assessed and treated the rider of the scooter before being joined by The Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex. The patient was then taken via road to a London hospital for further medical treatment.'
